Kanhym, the well-known farming giant, recently took a massive leap into the retail and franchising industry by opening the doors of its very first Fresh Meat Deli Franchise, in Gift Acres, Pretoria. Or maybe not such a massive leap after all, since the company has been preparing for this moment for some time, or to be more precise, seven whole decades of farming superior meat and supplying butcheries throughout the nation. It was time for Kanhym to bring its product home and what better way than by creating its very own franchised meat delis.
"Over the past few years Kanhym has allowed independent retailers to use the Kanhym brands in their outlets. Unfortunately many of these retailers did not share Kanhym's passion for excellence and quality products, resulting in damage to the brand. Kanhym - founded in 1936 by the Kahn and Hyman families and has since lived through a corporate era and a staff-owned one, plus achieved BEE status, in 2007, when a block of shares was purchased by a black-owned consortium - farms its livestock south of Middelburg, where the animals are fed on Kanhym's very own animal feeds and raised in optimum conditions, ultimately producing meats that are superior and free of antibiotics and other harmful substances.
